Does God still Do Miracles Today?

Are miracles still a reality in our day today? Or have the critics spoken so brashly and loudly that they’ve told us they don’t exist. Have you seen and heard so many “con artists” who supposedly did miracles for money that your own faith has its question marks?

Nine-year-old Danny came bursting out of Sunday school like a wild stallion. His eyes were darting in every direction as he tried to locate either his mom or dad. Finally after a quick search, he grabbed his daddy by the leg and yelled, "Man, that story of Moses and all those people crossing the Red Sea was great!" His father looked down, smiled, and asked the boy to tell him about it. "Well, the Israelites got out of Egypt, but Pharaoh and his army chased after them. So the Jews ran as fast as they could until they got to the Red Sea. The Egyptian Army was getting closer and closer. So Moses got on his walkie-talkie and told the Israeli Air Force to bomb the Egyptians. While that was happening, the Israeli Navy built a pontoon bridge so the people could cross over. They made it!" By now old dad was shocked. "Is that the way they taught you the story?" "Well no, not exactly," Danny admitted, "But if I told it to you the way they told it to us, you'd never believe it, Dad." (Chuck Swindoll)

Who do you think works overtime to impregnate and birth doubt in your heart? Who has worked intensely since the beginning of creation to stop and hinder the plans and purposes of God? Satan is the author of confusion. Doubt is what caused Adam and Eve to lose their blessings and the favor of God in the Garden of Eden. If the enemy can produce and harvest doubt in your heart about your nightmare, difficulty, dilemma, and despair, then he is on his way to short circuiting you to a supernatural God who desires to bless you beyond the natural. Oral Roberts years ago said, “If we can see the Invisible we can do the Impossible.” Here are a few ROADBLOCKS that hinder us from seeing the Invisible to do the Impossible.

  • Doubt is a roadblock to seeing the invisible to do the impossible. Mary and Martha had a sick brother who was near death. They sent word for Jesus to come to his rescue. But instead of coming, Jesus delayed his coming and Lazarus died. Doubt said, “Jesus missed it this time; if he had been here, Lazarus wouldn’t have died.” (John 11:32) Have you ever tried to Set God Straight thinking He missed it somewhere in your life? Martha and Mary did!
  • Discouragement is another roadblock. These two sisters were so discouraged and disheartened with the Lord, that they were asking, “Why didn’t You come?” What could have been so important that He would ignore their desperate cry? “Lord, where have you been; you blew it this time”?  Satan thrives on you becoming a skeptic of God’s will, plan and intentions for your life.
  • Delay is another roadblock. It’s pride in your heart that says, “My way is the right way!” No, God’s ways are higher than your ways. Jesus says, “I’m glad for your sake that I was not here.” (John 11:15)  Delay doesn’t means Denial. He may have a higher plan that will bring about His purpose, plan and Glory. Four days later Jesus brought Lazarus up from the dead! “NOW,” somebody knew that there was a real God who had come from heaven to earth. Is He doing the same for you in your situation to bring about the Miracle that you need today?
